Being part of a small community is something I have always been proud of. Knowing your neighbors, giving a helping hand, attending sporting and arts events, and being there for each other is what makes a community like Jasper-Troupsburg a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
As a 2001 graduate of Jasper-Troupsburg, I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to come back to the district and act as a servant leader in our elementary school. In my years of education, I have never ventured far from our little community. After graduating from high school, I attended SUNY Oneonta where I received my bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education 1-6. Upon graduating in 2004, I immediately began my teaching career in Canisteo-Greenwood while working on my master’s degree in literacy at Alfred University. I have experience teaching intervention, and grades 1, 4, and 6 over my 17 years as an elementary teacher.
After years of taking on leadership roles both within and outside of the school, I was encouraged to further my education and pursue on my administrative degree. In 2019, I took the advice of the people I most looked up to and enrolled at Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester. About 10 months into this endeavor, COVID changed the way education looked and felt for the foreseeable future, but didn’t discourage me from leadership. After graduating from Warner in the fall of 2020 with my SBL and SDL certificate, I was waiting for the right opportunity before leaving the classroom. This spring when a leadership position at Jasper-Troupsburg was posted, I felt compelled to come back to this great district.
I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazing faculty, staff, and families who have made J-T an exceptional place for students to learn and grow.
I am honored to once again be a Wildcat.
