Graduation Requirements

Steps to Graduation 

There are multiple pathways to graduation

Mrs. Kropp meets with each student individually and discusses their pathway

The New York State Education Department Requirements for a High School Diploma:

  • Credit Requirements:
    • 4 credits of English Language Arts
    • 4 credits of Social Studies
    • 3 credits of Science
    • 3 credits of Math
    • 1 credit of LOTE (*)
      • Students with a disability may be excused from the requirement if so indicated on IEP
      • Students must still earn 22 credits to graduate
    • 1 credit of Fine Art
    • 2 credits of Physical Education
    • 1/2 credit of Health
    • 3.5 credits of Electives
      • ALL MUST ADD UP TO 22 CREDITS
  • Examination Requirements:
    • 1 ELA Regents Exam
    • 1 Math Regents Exam
    • 1 Social Studies Regents Exam
    • 1 Science Regents Exam
    • 1 Pathway
      • Complete all requirements for CDOS Commencement Credential; or
      • Pass an Additional Math Regents; or
      • Pass an Additional Science Regents; or
      • Pass an Additional Social Studies Regents; or
      • Pass a Department approved CTE Pathway Assessment, following successful completion of an approved CTE Program; or
      • Pass a Department approved Pathway Assessment in the Arts; or
      • Pass a Department approved Pathway Assessment in a Language other than English (LOTE); or
      • Pass an Additional English Assessment in a Different Course or Department Approved Alternative; or
      • Seal of Civic Readiness
